Glenn McMenamin retained the pro-am2 title in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB during the final race weekend of the season at Brands Hatch (9/10 October).
The Milton Keynes-based racer had a superb season with Red Line Racing, winning pro-am2 in six of the 20 races and fending off a tremendous challenge from George Brewster, George Richardson and Mark Hazell to take the category title.

McMenamin says that the 2010 season was tougher than the previous year, when he won pro-am2 in his first season of racing. "With so many new people coming into pro-am2, from the first couple of races I knew I had my work cut out and it wasn't going to be as easy as the previous season," he said. Across the 20 races, seven drivers took pro-am2 wins and just 11 points covered the top four in the final reckoning.
"We've all pushed each other all season and the lap times are really up there," said McMenamin. "I'm really pleased with the way we've all come on. I've been through the highs and lows of motor sport and the weekends at Knockhill and Donington Park were a disaster for me. I just saw the championship going away before my eyes."
McMenamin says that the final weekend was all about pressure as he battled with Brewster for the title. "It would have been nice to go to the last weekend with a buffer like I did last year. But not having that meant there was a lot of pressure at Brands and I'm just relieved it all worked out."
Now, he is working towards 2011 and hopes to be able to step up to the pro-am1 category. "If I manage to get out in pro-am1 next year, it will be just a case of going for what I can get. There won't be the expectation that there was coming into this year. I'm very much hoping to step up to pro-am1 next year. If I'm in exactly the same car I'll be interested to see just where I am against the top guys."

Glenn McMenamin is planning to defend his pro-am2 in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season after signing for a full campaign with Red Line Racing.
The Milton Keynes driver only started racing at the end of the 2008 season and missed the opening Carrera Cup races of 2009 while upgrading his racing licence to National 'A' status. Despite that handicap, McMenamin went on to win the pro-am2 title after a superb season.
Now, he says that retaining the pro-am2 title will be even tougher as the category is set for its strongest field to date. "It's going to be even more competitive than last year," said McMenamin. "There are seven or eight really strong drivers in the field and there will be some great racing. I'm really looking forward to another good year."
McMenamin has switched to Red Line Racing where he joins Tim Harvey, Michael Meadows, Andrew Shelley and Archie Hamilton in a very strong five-car squad from the Cleveland team. "Red Line has got some great drivers and I can learn a lot from Tim Harvey; he's such a presence in the team."
They have already had a couple of day's testing, including McMenamin's first visit to Thruxton. "That was quite an eye-opener," he said after his initial experience of the high-speed Hampshire track, which hosts the opening races of the season on 3/4 April.

Glynn Geddie and Glenn McMenamin both clinched titles in 2009 Porsche Carrera Cup GB during the final two races of the season at Brands Hatch (3/4 October).
Geddie won the pro-am1 title after a superb weekend at Brands when he took an overall podium finish ahead of Tim Harvey and Michael Caine. The 19-year old from Aberdeen was in his first full season of racing and won the pro-am1 category in 10 of the 20 races with Team Parker Racing.
"We've had so many ups ands downs this season and we've had some bad luck in the races," said Geddie. "After nearly stalling on the line for the final race I had to work hard, but we did what we needed to do. Next year I plan to be back in the Carrera Cup and move up to the pro category."
McMenamin wrapped up his first season of racing by winning the pro-am2 category. The Milton Keynes racer only joined the series at Donington in May after getting his National A race licence and has been a pro-am2 front-runner ever since with Parr Motorsport.
"My first ever race was this weekend a year ago in the Porsche Open and I was just happy to be out there on the grid," said McMenamin. "A year on, I've won my class in a major championship. I can’t really get my head round what I've achieved. It hasn’t sunk in yet."
He won the pro-am2 category four times and saw off the challenge of Paul Hogarth to take the title. McMenamin is already working towards continuing in the series in 2010. "I'm very much hoping to be back in the Carrera Cup next year. There's nowhere else I really want to be racing," he said.
